A new kick on a 1929 Ford Model-A

What is lacking in vintage cars? Aside from not having the obvious high-end gizmos and gadgets and the contemporary designs, vehicles from yester years lack that strength newer models boast of. Every vintage car owner, however, can breathe a sigh of relief as old autos are given the chance to become fairly new again as restoration is possible. In Finland, after an owner of the rare 1929 Ford Model-A sought the help of the Mäkelä Auto-Tuning company (MAT), the classic car now has more horsepower to boot and a restored appearance.

Cosworth Engine

The Kannus-based MAT team did exactly as told: add more power to the classic 1929 Ford Model-A without necessarily changing its original look and feel. Lead by Kari Makela, who founded the auto tuning company three decades ago, the MAT team replaced its production power plant with a more powerful one. What the skilled group did was take a Ford Escort BDA Cosworth Group 4 rally car’s powertrain engine and installed it in this vintage car. The more powerful two-liter four-cylinder power plant makes the 1929 Ford Model-A to accelerate from zero to 62 miles per hour (mph) in flat five seconds. With such engine, this old Ford model now has a maximum speed of 124 mph or 200 km/hr.

After meticulous tweaking, the used to be old and beaten 1929 Ford Model-A is now a sight to behold. Back to its almost original state, this classic no longer has to steep down to the latest vehicle models at present.

An exhaust tailpipe that cooks

There are vehicles that can accommodate cooking wares. A recreational vehicle or more popularly known as the RV can house microwaves to stoves and even ovens. There are upcoming concept models, on the other hand, that are supposed to have special places for these cooking wares. Notice, however, that most of the places allotted for these supposed kitchen appliances are found inside the vehicle and never outside. Breaking all the rules is the Exhaust Burger Concept – a one of a kind exhaust tail pipe that can cook burger patty one at a time.

Exhaust Burger Concept

The brains behind the Exhaust Burger Concept are Iranians. These inventors were so keen in how much time people spend inside a car or an SUV and the possible heat coming out at the rear part of the vehicle. Add to that, the dependence on food to survive. When these learned men placed together A and B, the Exhaust Burger Concept, which was entered in a contest called Design Boom, was born.

Health-conscious citizens, however, do not need to fret on the possible amount of carbon monoxide and other impurities that the burger is going to absorb. By taking a closer look on the design, the tail pipe merely heats its lower compartment, where the burger patty is placed. In that way, no noxious exhaust fumes reach the patty.

As of post time, this burger patty-cooking exhaust pipe is still in the works. For that, burger patties still belong on a hot grill or a frying pan as of the moment.
