Blast from the past

Before the month of August ends, the 1950s enthusiasts got the chance to live and to rock the magical era starting with the cars
Lead East debuted as early as 1983 at the Flemington Fairgrounds. It started as a small custom car show and everything ’50s party.
“People come from all over the country and the world to attend this event,” said Cook. “We have people who drove from Texas to show their cars year after year. Many friendships have been made and people keep in touch with each other. The atmosphere is like no other, and there is so much to do that you just can’t do it all in one day.”

The event’s name was derived from a local and 1950s American pop culture term “Lead”, which means “to customize”. The participating cars have been physically altered and customized for the event.
“New Jersey is filled with car enthusiasts, and we expect about 15,000 people attended this year,” Cook said.
